The work of the German Parliamentary Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
The German Parliamentary Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Health and
Rights sets itself the following objectives in the spirit of the Programme of Action
decided by the Cairo conference in 1994:
- To support the implementation of the Cairo Programme of Action at national and international level with the emphasis on Eastern Europe
- To raise awareness of the issue in relevant committees and debates
- To instigate parliamentary initiatives concerned with sexual and reproductive health and rights
- To support sustainable development, particularly in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights
- To demand a development policy in this area
- To strengthen supranational parliamentary cooperation
- To increase the dialogue with NGOs, experts and representatives of the media
- To lobby in the German Bundestag for a budget which reflects the objectives of Cairo
